Light based skin rejuvenation treatment

July 24th, 2008 By Sookyee | Posted in Anti Wrinkle Treatment, Antiaging Skin Care, Laser Treatment No Comments »

GentleWaves LED Photomodulation system, a light-based skin rejuvenation treatment, has been given the green light by the FDA, adding to a growing number of home treatments in this category. GentleWaves uses light-emitting diodes for nonablative skin resurfacing and skin rejuvenation treatment.

Light based skin care has been available in beauty parlors and through qualified dermatologists for some years. With the launch of GentleWaves LED Photomodulation system, light based skin care treatment can be brought into the home, a move that could make it more widespread.

GentleWaves has been scientifically proven to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles through the use of a patented system of pulsating amber-colored LEDs. These LEDs are specifically coded to increase collagen production while slowing down collagen breakdown. The device has initial FDA clearance for treating periorbital wrinkles, but the company is amassing clinical data about its effectiveness in several other aesthetic, and some non-aesthetic, indications.

GentleWaves LED Photomodulation technology is a novel approach to provide skin rejuvenation treatment in a rapid, safe and truly painless manner. GentleWaves is non-thermal, non-ablative and has no pain, side effects, or downtime. Quick and convenient for today’s fast-paced world, GentleWaves has been clinically proven to reduce fine lines and wrinkles without pain, redness, peeling or downtime. Users spend less than one minute sitting in front of a cascading array of amber colored pulsating lights. As LED Photomodulation is a non-thermal, photo-biochemical process, it is one of the only technologies now available to safely treat all skin types resulting in noticeably softer, smoother and healthier-looking skin.

This technology is currently used by physicians around the world for both home and medical light therapies but many new applications for the GentleWaves technology can be expected in the future. The ability to extend this therapy for use in the home without a reduction in benefits is a significant advancement in treating aging skin. Physicians and scientists worldwide are now exploring how very low energy light interacts with not just skin, but all living cells in the body.

Future of Skin Rejuvenation treatment

July 7th, 2008 By Sookyee | Posted in Antiaging Skin Care No Comments »

“Stem-Cell” technology is revolutionizing skin care. “Stem Cells” are the future of skin rejuvenation treatment. These new “Stem-Cell” emulsions can actually “rejuvenate” skin by “awakening” your body’s own reservoir of undifferentiated Stem Cells.

Amatokin is the first and only topical compound shown to highlight the expression of stem cell markers in skin. Parisian women lined up to get their hands on Amatokin Emulsion For the Face what the media was calling ‘the most profound skin-care breakthrough in more than three decades. Right now, Amatokin is the most talked about skin cream in the world. Many important “anti-aging” compounds are derived from burn-related research.

The original Amatokin 153-amino-acid polypeptide chain was also developed as part of ongoing research in Russia’s high-security medical lab to help burn victims with serious scarring and devastated skin. Imagine what Amatokin can do for deep creases and an aging complexion.

“Stem-Cell” emulsions reduce the appearance of fine lines, deep lines and other age-related imperfections. Every major cosmetic manufacturer is rushing to tap into this new stem-cell technology. Cosmetic chemists around the globe are burning the midnight oil for one simple reason that these high-tech emulsions will make your skin look smoother, tighter, healthier, and you will look really younger.

“As we age, stem-cell utilization for skin repair is less efficient. However, the potential that nature has given us to access these endogenous stem-cell reservoirs for skin rejuvenation is quite remarkable.” explains research scientist. That is why science is seeking to activate the potential of our inherent adult stem-cell reservoirs. In so doing, the practical use of stem-cell technology can provide the consumer with a topical, anti-aging skin care treatment formula that simply makes everyone look years younger.”

Stem cells are hot… and getting hotter. Imagine a complexion that’s new, fresh, and with “perfect” skin cells that are undamaged by age, sun or pollution.

Call for more research on Antioxidants

June 25th, 2008 By Sookyee | Posted in Antiaging Skin Care, Antioxidants for Antiaging No Comments »

As the benefits of antioxidants have been largely published, consumer demands for products and foods that are high in antioxidants also increase rapidly. Consumer demand for dietary supplements containing large amounts of plant-based antioxidants has outpaced scientific knowledge on the actual health benefits, best dosages, and risks of those phytochemicals – naturally occurring chemicals in plants.

Dietary polyphenols are a main source of antioxidants for humans. These polyphenols, subdivided as flavonoids, have a variety of biological activities, ranging from anti-aging and anti-cancer to lowering of blood cholesterol levels and improving bone strength. Polyphenols are derived from plants and consumed as fruits and vegetables. Research found that these compounds show promise in preventing cancer, aging, heart disease and other conditions.

However many past studies on the potential health benefits of these compounds have been done in animals and their exact effects in humans are uncertain. There was inadequate attention to bioavailability — how much of a dose actually can be used by the body — and how phytochemicals interact with prescription drugs.

Indeed, insufficient research has been done with respect the bioavailability of these compounds, and possible interactions with pharmaceuticals. A critically important scientific question is then: are these flavonoids and polyphenols as effective as people believe them to be?

More studies exploring how these antioxidants are utilized in the body, particularly by targeted areas such as the heart and breast tissue were called for. For example, millions of women in the United States are taking soy-based phytoestrogens to relieve menopausal symptoms. Recent studies, however, found that a compound in soy might stimulate the growth of breast cancer.

Antioxidants should be the focus of more relevant research, especially for the high doses used in dietary supplements. There is a need for more relevant research into the bioavailability and utilisation of the antioxidants, particularly polyphenols, in order to help the successful development of polyphenols as chemopreventive agents in the future.

Antioxidants counter harmful effects of free radicals

June 16th, 2008 By Sookyee | Posted in Antiaging Skin Care, Antioxidants for Antiaging No Comments »

Inside your body, an army of antioxidants is protecting you from the forces of aging and disease. One study after another has shown that antioxidants help prevent cancer and heart disease, safeguard memory, reduce the risk of degenerative diseases like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, protect joints, soothe pain, reduce muscle soreness and fatigue, avert blindness caused by macular degeneration and cataracts, and even ward off wrinkles.

What exactly are antioxidants and how do they benefit us? It was discovered how antioxidants patrol every part of our body, repairing damaged molecules that if allowed to run rampant would accelerate aging and disease.

Humans are constantly attacked by negative elements — from pollution to chemicals to UV rays — that damage your cells. Your body also produces stress hormones and toxic chemical reactions that weaken the molecules in your cells, causing them to lose an electron — a unit in the cell that carries electrical charges and allows your cells to work together. These electron-deprived molecules, called free radicals steal electrons from other molecules and this damages those cells and the cycle continues.

Thus, once a free radical is created, the damage spreads fast. Sunlight and air pollution can create free radicals in skin cells, damage cell DNA, raising the risk of skin cancer and accelerating wrinkle formation. Free radicals can damage any cells that get in their way. The good news is antioxidants can counter the harmful effects of free radicals. Antioxidants stop the oxidative damage by replacing a molecule’s kidnapped electron without damaging other molecules.

The benefits of antioxidants are many they do more than rescue cells in distress. So start filling your body with intake of food high in antioxidants, especially nutrients like selenium, vitamin E, vitamin C, carotenoids, isothiocyanates, polyphenols, and coenzyme Q10. Topical antioxidants block free radicals in the environment and keep them from penetrating deeper into the skin. Scientists have also figured out how to shrink antioxidant molecules so they can enter through pores. Using antioxidant-rich products like sunscreen, night cream and wrinkle cream will also help.

A Chemical Peel can make you look like a celebrity in 1 minute

June 9th, 2008 By Sookyee | Posted in Antiaging Skin Care, Chemical Face Peels No Comments »

You see all those beautiful celebrities in TV, movies and magazines and wish you could look just as beautiful as them. Just as beautiful as Jennifer Lopez and Angelina Jolie are.

You think that is impossible, right?

But, what if you could?

Well, it is possible to get that beautiful skin by something called a TCA peel.

Facial peel treatments have been done for almost 4.000 years starting with the ancient Egyptians.

Face peel products these days come as light, medium and deep peels.

The light skin peel products are products based on glycolic. AHA or lactic containing products and light peels can only provide a super-ficial improvement to your skin and gives only a refreshed look.

If you have real skin problems such as acne, wrinkles, coarse/rough/dry skin, crow’s feet, deep forehead lines, blemishes, blotches, un-even skin or un-even skin color, liver and age spots then you need a facial peel with something called TCA peel.

This kind of peel has been used for 50 years and is the most effective way of solving your skin problems. Though you may desire repeated treatments with 4 weeks apart then after just 1 face peel you will notice that your skin has improved dramatically.

Wrinkles have softened or disappeared. Acne has been reduced or gone altogether. Blemishes and blotches have improved and also other skin problems will have improved significantly.

How do you use chemical facial peel?

It’s quite easy. First you clean you skin and remove excess oil whereafter you apply the solution to the area you wish to treat and after a minute you rinse off with water. You could apply several layers but if it is the first time you use a chemcial peel then start with 10% TCA.

You can repeat a chemical peel every 4 weeks and will get further improvements each time.

If you just start out with TCA peel then just use 10% to see how your skin reacts. If you have sensitive skin or have used Accutane within the last 6 months then 10% TCA is a good starting point in order to make your skin get accustomed to the TCA treatment.

After a peel then your skin will be renewed and look younger and better than your old skin and will actually be slightly thicker than your old skin due to increased collagen production.

When you have used 10% TCA a couple of times then you can move up to 15% for a couple of treatments and later up to 25%. You could go as high as 35% but make sure that you followed the suggested regiment to be absolutely sure that you get the desired results.

It is important that you follow this regimen since a few individuals have sensitive skin and reacts stronger to any peel products. That is entirely avoided if you start at 10% TCA and then slowly build up. This way your skin gets accustomed to the peel and get stronger and then it is entirely safe.

If you go to a skin doctor then you will be charged $700 up to $1.500 for a peeling. To get the maximum effect you need 6 treatments with 4 weeks apart. Your total charge could run up to $10.000 for 6 treatments. And you would still need to get a maintenance treatment once a year or so.

Luckily, you can now get home chemical peel which is also useful for acne treatment in the comfort and privacy of your home for about $10 per treatment. TCA peel is also great for acne treatment and general skin care since it cleans clogged pores and help prevent future acne outbreaks.

Important information for choosing the best Anti Cellulite Cream

June 9th, 2008 By Sookyee | Posted in Antiaging Skin Care, Eliminating Cellulite 1 Comment »

There are many available treatments for cellulite in the market nowadays. Some women choose to go with extreme measures to eliminate cellulite condition by using treatment like self-tanners, liposuction, and laser. However, among these various treatments, anti cellulite cream is one of the most accessible treatment options.

These cream products claim that they can melt away the excess inches on your thighs and hips. They also can help to firm and contour your skin to refine and minimize the unappealing appearance caused by cellulite. When you are considering using anti cellulite cream, there are both high-end brands and drugstore brands that can be found in every form of cream including gels and lotions.

Therefore, since there are numerous creams in the market, you need to determine which cellulite cream is the best for you.

The basic of cellulite

Before you can start choosing an anti cellulite cream, you need to learn about the basic of cellulite. Cellulite is believed to be caused by the accumulation of fat, fluid, and toxins that are trapped in a network of collagen and elastin fibers that are found underneath your skin.

Cellulite normally will form when blood vessels under the skin are damaged, which then lead to the weakening of the outer layers of the skin. Fat will then settle into these spots and thus create the appearance of cellulite. An anti cellulite cream generally works by lifting and smoothing the surface of the skin to help reduce the appearance of this skin puckering.

Getting an anti cellulite cream

When it comes to anti cellulite cream, doctors and other medical professionals have stated that the two most effective ingredients are caffeine and retinol. These ingredients can help to relieve the cellulite appearance by firming the outer layer of the skin.

Other ingredients in anti cellulite cream are generally there to help to improve the look of your skin. They usually help to smooth the surface, decrease the appearance of stretch marks, and soften the skin. Ingredients, such as Par Elastyl and collagen, help to firm the skin while ginkgo, green tea, soy, and horse chestnut can help to tone the skin.

Anti cellulite cream also comes in various textures, which may depend on your preference. If you choose a gel, generally it will absorb quickly and often make your skin feel tighter more rapidly than other products. Then there are lotions that are not oily. You can also choose rich emollient creams that should be rubbed into the skin very well to avoid oil slicks on your clothes. This type of product is best to apply at night.

Common anti cellulite creams

As mentioned previously, there are a vast number of cellulite cream brands available in the market. However, there are five creams that have had the most success and thus they will be discussed briefly on this article.

The first anti cellulite cream to be discussed is Revitol Cream Solution. This anti cellulite cream has a guarantee to work in six months and it is also available online through www.revitol.com. The cream is as easy to use as any other lotions and it includes ingredients that are easy to understand, such as caffeine and green tea extract.

Another well known anti cellulite cream that is easy to use and available online, is Profile Anti Cellulite Treatment. This cellulite cream is considered to be unique especially because it contains essential oils along with other ingredients including green tea and Aloe Vera. Like Revitol, Profile Anti Cellulite Cream is available online at www.janson-beckett.com.

Body Shape is one of the least expensive top anti cellulite cream products. It is offered at approximately fifty dollars and like other previous products, it is available online at www.bodyshape2.hydroderm.com. Body Shape anti cellulite cream is made up of more organic ingredients, such as organic caffeine and organic lecithin, and it is simple to use as other lotions that you have sitting on your bathroom counter.

At www.cellulean.com, you can purchase a bottle of Cellulean anti cellulite cream. As other products, this cellulite cream is easy to use as lotion. The biggest difference between Cellulean cream and other creams is that it does not contain more organic ingredients and it uses Aminophylline as the central cellulite-fighting ingredient instead.

Avotone is the last anti cellulite cream discussed, which is also available online. It is made of mostly natural ingredients, such as avocado and mineral oils. However, these natural ingredients are blended with others, like Maltodextrine. This anti cellulite cream is available at www.avotone.com.

Now you have a basic understanding of some well know anti cellulite creams available today. You can start visiting those websites and get further information concerning each product. With diligence, you can greatly reduce or eliminate the cellulite that has plagued you for years by using these creams.

However, you should always keep in mind that anti cellulite cream is only a temporary fix. These creams obviously cannot increase your metabolism or go to the deepest layers of the skin in order to change the underlying condition that causes the cellulite. In this case, the creams can only change the outer appearance of your cellulite. The best thing to do is to improve your diet and exercise properly and regularly so that you can permanently fix your cellulite condition.
