The best way to make you look young - Anti Aging serum

June 8th, 2008 By Sookyee | Posted in Anti Aging Vitamins, Antiaging Skin Care, Collagen Skin Care, Peptides for skin No Comments »

With developments in science and the cosmetics industry, there are now five different types of product that help you fight the acts of aging; anti aging serum is amongst the best. Serum works by enhancing your body’s production of collagen which makes your skin become taut and relaxed. Great results come from using the product after about four weeks, although after a week you will notice some changes that will be significant for both yourself and others to notice.

Anti aging ingredients that help reverse aging

1. Anti aging Serum - this isn’t number one because its the best, but more because of its ease of use and many people who have used products that contain the serum have noticed very good results. Anti aging serum that works the best will generally contain retinal and vitamin A, which will help your skin form and look beautiful in a matter of weeks.

2. Peptides - being number two, they have a right to be closely ranked behind anti aging serum. Peptides are reactants that tell your body to make more collagen, which helps your skin become more supple and relaxed, but tightens at the same time, making your skin look and feel better with every cream application you make.

Applications should be applied regularly, however, as if you reduce the amount (or stop totally) the applications of the skin care cream, then your skin will probably also stop doing the lovely things that it has been doing.

3. Vitamin C - For centuries, vitamin C has been termed a great vitamin to help in the fight against aging skin. It is considered by many to be one hundred times more effective than other elements when fighting free radicals (free radicals are bad and cause your skin to age), with its ability to be over 20 times as powerful as vitamin E, when looking at the promotion and care of your beautiful skin.

If you find this in an anti aging serum product, then you have a product that will work wonders fro your ongoing skin care, as the epigallocathechin (mainly found in green tea) acts as a freedom fighter against the signs of aging and so promotes the appearance of your skin.

4. Anti-Botox peptides - another peptide element which will help your skin. You may know it as its common term of argireline, which will provide your skin with an instant face lift, but without the need for any needles. The results show the same outcomes as Botox - so, your muscles will be relaxed and contracted to remove the wrinkles from those nasty line areas.

Like any other product, the longer you use this, the better results you will have, with trials in various clinics across the country showing that this type of treatment showed that 100% of people had a 30% reduction of wrinkles on their skin in under 4 weeks of use - simply amazing.

Overall, Vitamin C is probably the best and most commonly know ingredient that can be used to tackle free radicals in your skin. This vitamin is found in many forms of concentrated anti aging serum capsules, and in most test has shown to be the best combination in a capsule to combat the anti aging process.

Collagen supplements - what they are and how they work

May 30th, 2008 By Sookyee | Posted in Collagen Skin Care No Comments »

In determining whether or not collagen supplements would be right for you, it helps to know exactly what collagen is, what these supplements do and how they work. There are many companies on line and at local shopping centers offering collagen products, but not all are created equal.

All About Proteins

Collagen supplements consist of a type of protein. You’ve probably thought of protein as something necessary to one’s diet. While this is true, “proteins” in this particular case are defined as organic (carbon-based) compounds made up of amino acids (naturally-occurring molecules made up primarily of carbon, oxygen, hydrogen and nitrogen). The amino acids that make up a given protein are held together by chemical reactions between the molecules known as peptide bonds.

Proteins are essential for the numerous cellular processes that allow living bodies to function; without proteins, the biochemical molecules in our cells would simply not function.

There are several different kinds of proteins, and each one’s specific function is genetically determined.

The Function of Collagen

Collagen is a specific kind of protein that is responsible for the maintenance of connective tissues, which includes tendons, ligaments and cartilage. It is also a main component in the cells of the bones, teeth, blood vessels and particularly the skin. In mammals (including humans), it is the most common protein, making up about a quarter of the protein content in our bodies.

This particular protein has a fibrous structure that is strong and elastic - rather like rubber bands. It is what keeps skin healthy, and plays a prominent role in the healing of wounds. Plastic surgeons use it for cosmetic and restorative surgery, particularly with burn patients.

As we age, the collagen in our bodies is gradually lost. This is what causes wrinkles and sagging. On the average, people may lose as much as 30% by the time they reach the age of 40.

This has more serious implications than simple cosmetic considerations; overall mobility is compromised, bones may be weakened and muscles may atrophy.

How Collagen Supplements Can Help

A Collagen supplement can help to replace that which is lost to the aging process; however the form in which a collagen supplement is taken is important. Because collagen is made up of relatively large, complex molecules, most people see the best results from taking collagen supplements orally, in the form of a pill or capsule. This allows the body to absorb collagen from the inside.

The Benefits

Those who take collagen supplements on a regular basis over an extended period can expect to enjoy an overall rejuvenating effect, as well as a reduction in wrinkles, improved mobility in stiff joints, and better maintenance of lean muscle tissue. In addition, many people experience the benefits of healthier, more youthful looking hair and nails.

Since collagen loss is an ongoing process, those who take collagen supplements will not see immediate results. It generally takes about two weeks in order to experience any real difference, and since the results are cumulative, the collagen supplement should be taken on an ongoing basis.

Wrinkles on face - collagen can remove them in minutes

May 29th, 2008 By Sookyee | Posted in Collagen Injections, Collagen Skin Care No Comments »

Wrinkles- How do they form?

Wrinkles form as we age. Our face begins aging soon after we cross our twenties. It begins with fine lines on the face. As we age, the fine lines become deeper. At the same time our facial expression makes permanent changes in the skin. We develop laugh lines, lines on the forehead, etc. As we age the collagen that is the main constituent of our dermis begins breaking down. Let us see what happens than and how a collagen injection, which takes minutes, can bring back the youth back.

Collagen- the wonder material

Collagen is a protein. It is mainly found in the dermis, the layer below epidermis (top layer) of the skin. this collagen in the dermis supports the epidermis. Without the support of collagen the epidermis would collapse on the muscles and bones. The collagen gives us the plump and young look. Collagen forms the structure on which the epidermis rests. You can think of pillars in a building that support the roof. Collagen does similarly to support the epidermis.

Collagen- why it breaks down?

As we age, the collagen begins breaking down. Sun is the main culprit. As the collagen breaks, the skin develops wrinkles. The skin sags. In the youth collagen is replaced fast. But as we age, this replacement becomes slow. So there is insufficient collagen in the dermis and we begin looking old. What can be done about replacing this collagen? Let us find out.

Collagen Injections- it takes minutes

Doctors inject collagen below the wrinkled skin. The source of collagen is commonly bovine. If your doctor suspects that you may develop allergy to bovine collagen, he/she may use human collagen. As the collagen is injected, it removes the wrinkle in minutes and makes the face as young as it was earlier. Click here to learn more about Collagen

Botox, facial fillers, silicone implants: what’s the best way to get a lift?

May 26th, 2008 By Sookyee | Posted in Botox Injections, Collagen Skin Care No Comments »

The mirror tells you that wrinkles and sagging skin are piling on the years and that a dose of facial injections is the proper solution.

While injectables are certainly useful to revitalizing your face, these may not be the complete answer to your woes. Smoothing out wrinkles is not the only aspect of regaining a youthful appearance. The contours of your face can be dramatically improved with the addition of cheek or chin implants. You might discover that facial fillers, implants, or a combination of both are what you’re looking for.

Today, there are many different types of injectables used from Botox and Restylane to Collagen and fat. Each plastic surgeon will have his or her own preference for treatment, and different fillers are used depending on the problem and area to be treated.

It is always encouraged to do some independent research on each type of filler available as they all have their own pros and cons. For example, you might feel more comfortable using a natural injectable such as your own fat, but the results are very temporary and could disappear within as little as a month. Botox will last longer but can sometimes appears unnatural.

Regardless of which filler you choose, you’ll find that your wrinkles and scars can improve dramatically - sometimes nearly vanish. They can be used just about anywhere from around your eyes to your lips and forehead, making them a versatile option for a mini-facelift, or frequently called a liquid face lift.

The major downside to fillers is that they’re all temporary. Even the latest injectables last no longer than a year, which is a generous estimate. So while the immediate results are great and the recovery period is remarkably short, you should be aware of the continuing cost to keep up treatments.

Full, high cheeks can create an extremely youthful appearance. Ageing causes the cheeks to hollow, making the face look gaunt or sucked-in. Some surgeons use injections such as fat to plump out the cheeks; however the most common and most effective method for achieving symmetrical, attractive cheeks is through implants.

These implants are most often made of solid silicone and are inserted through an incision made either below the eye or near the gums inside of the mouth. Although you will be put under anesthesia, unlike fillers, the results will last a lifetime and the recovery time will be only a few days longer.

Another way to give the face a lift is through chin augmentation. Like cheek implants, chin implants are usually solid silicone and are slipped into place through an small incision underneath your chin. The implant will firm up any loose skin around it and of course the results should last forever. Chin implants can greatly improve your profile and can even give the illusion of a smaller nose. Although it is a good way to boost your profile and sharpen your jaw line, chin augmentation won’t erase fine lines and wrinkles around your mouth and nose. But like cheek implants, the recovery time is roughly a week and will cause only mild discomfort.

The concept of a facelift is drastically different from what it used to be. There are a number of options available that can lift and smooth various areas of your face, allowing you to customize your cosmetic procedure to your specific needs.

Restylane

May 24th, 2008 By Sookyee | Posted in Antiaging Skin Care, Collagen Injections, Collagen Skin Care No Comments »

With the passing of time come the signs of aging. As we grow older, the signs of aging become more evident on our faces. Gravity, heredity, sun exposure and years of everyday facial movements, such as smiling, frowning, chewing, and squinting take their toll. These signs are seen as wrinkles, lines, creases and folds in the face. As the underlying tissue starts to weaken and break down the skin loses its smooth, firm appearance.

If you are looking for a way to rejuvenate your face without surgery then Restylane may be for you.

There are various types of injectable cosmetic fillers on the market today. They are intended to add volume and smooth out wrinkles giving the skin a more youthful appearance. These soft tissue fillers, most commonly fat and collagen are injected beneath the skin to plump up areas of the face that may be creased or sunken in. They are also used to add plump up and add fullness to the lips and cheeks.

Injectable fillers are often used in combination with other cosmetic procedures such as lasers and facelifts. The drawback to most of these types of fillers is that they often cause allergic reactions and the effects do not last very long.

Restylane is a non-animal, biodegradable gel based on hyaluronic acid. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane is a crystal-clear gel called NASHA or Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance present in all living organisms. This natural acid provides volume and fullness to an organism’s epidermis.

Restylane is produced as a clear gel substance and is injected directly beneath the surface of the skin, which adds natural volume and lift resulting in smoother wrinkles and less prominent folds and creases in the face. Unlike rooster-derived hyaluronic acids and bovine collagen products, Restylane is free from animal proteins. This limits any risk of animal-based disease transmissions or development of allergic reactions to animal proteins

Restylane is a safe and natural cosmetic filler that is immune to the drawbacks of other fillers because of its unique chemical composition. It is currently the first and only dermal filler approved by the FDA. What distinguishes Restylane from other dermal fillers is the way that it permeates the dermal tissue and naturally binds to water molecules.

As hyaluronic acid gradually degrades, each molecule binds to more water and over time, the same volume can be maintained with less hyaluronic acid. This ability of hyaluronic acid to bind to water is what helps provide lasting results. Through this action, the modified water molecules assist in achieving and maintaining volume bearing a natural appearance.

The actual treatment itself is very brief. Receiving Restylane injections can take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour depending on the size of the area to be treated. Restylane can be used to either shape facial contours, smooth wrinkles, or sculpt lips.

For facial contours, the Restylane corrects deep folds and lifts up the skin from cheeks and chin. This provides a fuller shape for the chin or a rounder, more sensual line along the cheeks. For wrinkles, when the Restylane is injected, it procedures natural volume under the wrinkle, which lifts it up and smoothes it out. When using Restylane for lip augmentation, the gel is injected into the inside of the upper or lower lip. It is also injected along the lip line; this brings out a more youthful look and smoothes out the lips.

During the treatment, the practitioner injects tiny amounts of Restylane into the skin using a very fine needle resulting in minimal discomfort. The practitioner may apply a topical anesthetic to the area being treated to minimize any discomfort. A local anesthetic is usually given before sculpting the lips. The results of the treatment can be seen immediately following the procedure and you may resume normal activity.

While the treatment does not require any downtime or follow up care, there are some precautions that should be taken. You must avoid alcohol and exercise for six hours after the treatment as well as refrain from touching the area that was treated. You may experience some redness or swelling after the treatment and sunbathing and cold outdoors activities should be avoided until any redness or swelling disappears.

If you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, there is a risk that the needle punctures could contribute to another recurrence. You may want to speak with your physician about any medications that can be taken to minimize the recurrence.

Restylane has been proven to be a safe procedure. Since it is non-animal based, it virtually eliminates the possibility of disease transmission or an allergic reaction. Adverse reactions are infrequent, however there is always potential for side effects with any cosmetic procedure. These include swelling, redness, bruising, tenderness and moderate pain, which will disappear within a week.

There are always factors that must be considered and discussed with your physician before having any type of cosmetic procedure. Since Restylane has proven to be a safe procedure most healthy adults prove to be good candidates for the treatment. The safety of Restylane for use during pregnancy, in breastfeeding females or in patients under 18 years has not been established so if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or under 18 you should wait to have the treatment done.

Restylane should not be used in patients with known susceptibility to keloid formation or hypertrophic scarring. Also if you are considering laser treatment, chemical peeling or any other procedure based on active dermal response you should be aware of the potential risk of eliciting an inflammatory reaction at the implant site.

Having a follow-up treatment before the Restylane has fully dissipated may enhance the lasting effect. The treatment generally lasts for about six months. You will most likely discuss further treatment at your initial consultation. Before your treatment or follow up you should avoid certain vitamins, herbal supplements and anti-inflammatory medications for a week prior due to the increased risk of bruising and bleeding at the injection site.
